Pesto is a sauce that is easy to make and is versatile. It can be used on pasta, sandwiches, wraps, salads and just about anything you want it on. And the aroma of fresh basil is just divine.
Add the nuts and the cheese to the food processor and pulse a few times, till the resulting mixture has been coarsely ground. Drizzle in the olive oil while ‘stirring’ the mixture. Then add the fresh basil and garlic and blend till all the ingredients mix together. Finally add the salt and freshly ground pepper.

Fresh Basil | 0.66 Oz |
Walnuts/ Pine Nuts | ¼ cup |
Parmigiano Reggiano/ Romano Cheese | ¼ cup |
Garlic | 1 clove |
E. V. Olive Oil | 1/8 - 1/4 cup |
Salt | To taste |
Freshly ground pepper | To taste |
There can be variations of this basic pesto with addition of mint or cilantro as well.
